making cards and a reality check

I have made a few cards over the past week or so. We have a few birthdays coming up. I also finished the binding on the runner for the library draws, I love it. Funny how I made this and now zig zags are every where. Like in the target catalogue a few weeks back.
It's hot and muggy here today and I'm not feeling flash so not much is being achieved, but I accept I will always have down times when I just don't feel well. I am off to Brisbane in a week, that means I should have a few good weeks after my injection. My lovely Doctors are trying to have my dose of trial medication increased, I am hoping they have a yes by next visit. Cross your fingers for me Please. I don't often write about the details of my health, but in an effort to keep it real I have realised I must. My ulcerative colitis is a part of my everyday life that I can't escape. I think I might need to add the word accept to my one little word this year. To accept that some days the most I will achieve is to get out of bed. Right that's all, I don't want this to sound too down I just want as I said 'to keep it real' and all this is part of my reality.

Happy Valentines Day

I whipped up some Valentine cards for Matt and Chelsea last night. Matt knew what I was doing and asked if I could make one for myself for him to give me because he forgot to get one. Funny. I just love the cute fun one I made for Chelsea, she loved it.
It was a struggle to get Chelsea up and to school early for choir practice. It's only the second week I'm sure she'll get use to it. Hope you all have a great Valentines day.

Happy Birthday to me!

I'm taking it easy today as it's my birthday(& I have a bit of a headcold). I received gifts this morning from Matt and Chelsea before Matt left for work. Then phone calls from my Dad at Norfolk Island and my brother Ian in Basel Switzerland, (where the temperature is minus 9deg cel.) After taking Chelsea to school I had morning tea with one of my very good friends and her little girl. I did a bit of shopping then came home and have been enjoying the air-conditioning.
I really wanted to have some photos taken yesterday and they both co-operated with me but the sun didn't and we were maybe 10 minutes late to get the sun light where I wanted it to be. Any way I asked if we could try again another day and he said yes. I don't think I should wear white next time and need to relax after I press the self timer. We enjoyed a yummy roast beef dinner last night, my Mum came out and joined us. She gave me some clothes and some money.
Now I'm going back to the lounge with my new scrapbooking magazine Matt gave me and putting my feet up until I have to go to school.

still scrapbooking

In between other stuff I have kept scrapbooking this week. Now my total is up to 14. Here are 2 from last week. Sorry I haven't taken the time to scan them all just yet. I am planning to get lots of scrapbooking done over the weekend. I'm off now to look at photos to scrap.

It's quiet, oh so quiet..

Back to school this week and I'm so happy that Chelsea seems to have settled in wonderfully. Year 3 now, wow it's going fast. I have been looking back at photos and I am amazed at how she has changed in only a few years. She has 4 front teeth missing (2 top, 2 bottom) so that is a funny sight.

I did a huge photo order a few weeks back and looking at the photos gave me the urge to scrapbook. So from Saturday to yesterday (Thursday) I have completed 7 pages all using 2011 photos. Looking back at what I scraped last year I was not surprised to find I had only done 3 pages! I can already say I scrapped more this year than last. A few years ago I would do no less than 50 pages a year, I plan to achieve that again this year. The sewing is coming along, I gave in and went back to Spotlight for more fabric because the first choice of binding just wasn't the right colour. I only have the binding to go so I plan to have it all finished by the end of the month. Sorry no scrapbook pages to show because I have to scan them still. I will plan to do them before my next post.

Last week of holidays.

Well Chelsea can't wait to go back to school. Only a few more things to pack and we are done. I have been extra organised this year. I am making plans for myself next week because I think I might be a little lonely at home by myself. I sure will not miss the TV being on abc4kids all day.

Last Friday we went to the zoo with some friends to see the farm animals. Chelsea had a great time trying to pat a piglet. After a morning tea picnic and a play in the playground we headed off to do some shopping. We had lunch with my Mum, we haven't seen as much of her these holidays so that was great to catch up.

Chelsea and I spent a day shopping with 2 of my aunts and 1 of my cousins. We swapped Christmas gifts after a yummy seafood lunch overlooking the river. For Hazel I made her a mug rug in scraps from the  wall hanging  I  made her in 2010. I will be making some of these for all around my house.

This is the patchwork project I am working on now. It's a table runner for the lovely timber library drawers that my aunt Jo gave me (because she has no room for them). We have put them in the lounge room and will use it as a coffee table and Chelsea can play with her little pets on it. The draws are perfect storage for all the littlest pet shop toys and creative stuff that is normally on the floor. Better photo when it's finished, which will not be long if I just use the fabric I have cut for binding. I am now thinking it's a bit too green blue then blue blue and it's putting me off. Any way it will not happen today because Chelsea and I are planning to bake and cook and also clean out the deep freeze today.

Enjoy your day.

one little word 2012

Achieve- (verb) to bring to a successful end. I will achieve so much this year. This is the year for finishing the new projects I start. This is the year for finishing my projects in progress. I know the word achieve will help me on my journey to see projects to the end. I'm happy with what I achieved in 2011, but if I had been more focused lots more would have been done. 2011's word was to treasure time. I think I spent more time just watching the time go by than treasuring it. In 2012 I will use my time wisely and have something to show for it.

Off to Brisbane tomorrow (again), it will be nice to have a day to myself and do some browsing in the city after my hospital visit. Next time photos of my first quilting project for 2012.
